Hadith 4848

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ ، أَخْبَرَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ التَّيْمِيُّ ، عَنْ طَاوُسٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " صَلَاةُ اللَّيْلِ مَثْنَى مَثْنَى ، فَإِذَا خِفْتَ الصُّبْحَ ، فَأَوْتِرْ بِوَاحِدَةٍ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said regarding the night prayer: "You should pray in sets of two rak'ahs, and when you fear that morning is near, then add one rak'ah as witr to those two."
