Hadith 4815

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا زَكَرِيَّا بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ دِينَارٍ ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ ، يَقُولُ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ : " الشَّهْرُ هَكَذَا وَهَكَذَا وَهَكَذَا ، وَقَبَضَ إِبْهَامَهُ فِي الثَّالِثَةِ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that he heard the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "A month is sometimes like this, like this, and like this." The third time, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) folded one thumb out of his ten fingers (i.e., 29 days).
