Hadith 4809

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ ، أَخْبَرَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ جَبَلَةَ بْنِ سُحَيْمٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : " نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنِ الْحَنْتَمَةِ ، قِيلَ : وَمَا الْحَنْتَمَةِ ؟ قَال : الْجَرَّةُ ، يَعْنِي : النَّبِيذَ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade «حنتمه». Someone asked: What is that thing? He replied: It is the jug that is used for making nabidh (or for distilling wine).
