It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that a drunkard was brought to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) enforced the prescribed punishment upon him and asked him, "What kind of wine did you drink?" He replied, "Of raisins and dates." The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Each of these suffices in place of the other."
