It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) camped in the valley of Namirah in the plain of Arafat. When Hajjaj bin Yusuf martyred Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Zubair (may Allah be pleased with him), he sent a messenger to Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) to ask at what time the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would depart on that day (the 9th of Dhul-Hijjah). He replied, "When we depart from here, it will be at that very hour." Upon hearing this, Hajjaj sent a man to observe at what time Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) would depart. When Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) intended to depart, he asked, "Has the sun set?" The people replied, "No." After a short while, he asked again, and the people replied, "Not yet." When the people said that the sun had set, he departed from there.
