Hadith 4704

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ ، عَنْ أَبِي حَنْظَلَةَ ، سَأَلْتُ ابْنَ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى عَنْهُمَا عَنِ الصَّلَاةِ فِي السَّفَرِ ؟ قَالَ : " الصَّلَاةُ فِي السَّفَرِ رَكْعَتَانِ " ، قُلْنَا : إِنَّا آمِنُونَ ؟ قَالَ : سُنَّةُ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ .
Abu Hanzalah says that I asked Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) about the prayer during travel. He replied that during travel, the prayer is two rak'ahs. We said, "But now there is safety and security everywhere?" He replied: "This is the Sunnah of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)."
