It is narrated from Nafi’ (may Allah have mercy on him), most likely on the authority of Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both), that Sayyiduna Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) sought permission from the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to stay in Makkah during the days of Mina in order to carry out the service of providing water to the pilgrims, so the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) granted him permission.
