Hadith 4688

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أَبِي لَبِيدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّم قَالَ : " لَا يَغْلِبَنَّكُمْ الْأَعْرَابُ عَلَى اسْمِ صَلَاتِكُمْ ، فَإِنَّهَا الْعِشَاءُ ، إِنَّمَا يَدْعُونَهَا الْعَتَمَةَ ، لِإِعْتَامِهِمْ بِالْإِبِلِ لِحِلَابِهَا " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that he heard the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "Do not let the Bedouins dominate you regarding the name of your prayer. Remember, its name is the 'Isha prayer. At that time, they milk their camels, and because of this, they call the 'Isha prayer 'Atamah'."
