(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، حَدَّثَنِي زَيْدٌ الْعَمِّيُّ ، عَنْ أَبِي الصِّدِّيقِ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : " رَخَّصَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِأُمَّهَاتِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ فِي الذَّيْلِ شِبْرًا ، فَاسْتَزَدْنَهُ ، فَزَادَهُنَّ شِبْرًا آخَرَ ، فَجَعَلْنَهُ ذِرَاعًا " ، فَكُنَّ يُرْسِلْنَ إِلَيْنَا نَذْرَعُ لَهُنَّ ذِرَاعًا .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Mothers of the Believers were granted permission by the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) for a hem of one handspan. They requested an increase in this, so the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) added another handspan, and the Mothers of the Believers made it one cubit. Then they used to send cloth to us, and we would measure out one cubit and give it to them.
