Hadith 4647

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : " نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنِ الْمُزَابَنَةِ ، وَالْمُزَابَنَةُ : الثَّمَرُ بِالتَّمْرِ كَيْلًا ، وَالْعِنَبُ بِالزَّبِيبِ كَيْلًا ، وَالْحِنْطَةُ بِالزَّرْعِ كَيْلًا " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade the sale of Muzabanah. Muzabanah means selling dates that have been cut (harvested) in exchange for dates still on the trees, or selling grapes in exchange for raisins, or selling wheat in exchange for estimated wheat.
