Hadith 4629

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْخَالِقِ ، قَالَ : سَأَلْتُ سَعِيدَ بْنَ الْمُسَيَّبِ عَنْ النَّبِيذِ ؟ فَقَالَ : سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ ، يَقُولُ عِنْدَ مِنْبَرِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : هَذَا قَدِمَ وَفْدُ عَبْدِ الْقَيْسِ مَعَ الْأَشَجِّ ، فَسَأَلُوا نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنِ الشَّرَابِ ، فَقَالَ : " لَا تَشْرَبُوا فِي حَنْتَمَةٍ ، وَلَا فِي دُبَّاءٍ ، وَلَا نَقِيرٍ " ، فَقُلْتُ لَهُ : يَا أَبَا مُحَمَّدٍ ، وَالْمُزَفَّتُ ؟ وَظَنَنْتُ أَنَّهُ نَسِيَ ، فَقَالَ : لَمْ أَسْمَعْهُ يَوْمَئِذٍ مِنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ ، وَقَدْ كَانَ يَكْرَهُهُ .
Abdul Khaliq says that once I asked Sayyiduna Sa'id bin Musayyib, may Allah have mercy on him, about nabidh (a type of drink). He replied that I heard Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar, may Allah be pleased with them both, saying near this pulpit of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) that once a delegation of Banu Abdul Qais came with their leader. They asked the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about drinks. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied to them: Do not drink from hantam, dubba, or naqir. I asked him, "O Abu Muhammad! Is 'muzaffat' also included in this prohibition?" I thought perhaps he had forgotten this word, but he said, "On that day, I did not hear Ibn Umar, may Allah be pleased with them both, mentioning it, although he certainly disliked it."
