Hadith 4609

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ سَالِمٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، أَنَّ غَيْلَانَ بْنَ سَلَمَةَ الثَّقَفِيَّ أَسْلَمَ وَتَحْتَهُ عَشْرُ نِسْوَةٍ ، فَقَالَ لَهُ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " اخْتَرْ مِنْهُنَّ أَرْبَعًا " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that when Ghaylan bin Salamah Thaqafi accepted Islam, he had ten wives in his marriage. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him, "Choose four from them (and divorce the remaining six)."
