Hadith 4597

(حديث موقوف) حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَيُّوبُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ مُوسَى ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، سَمِعْتُ رَجُلًا مِنْ بَنِي سَلِمَةَ يُحَدِّثُ ابْنَ عُمَرَ : أَنَّ جَارِيَةً لِكَعْبِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ كَانَتْ تَرْعَى غَنَمًا لَهُ بِسَلْعٍ ، بَلَغَ الْمَوْتُ شَاةً مِنْهَا ، فَأَخَذَتْ ظُرَرَةً ، فَذَكَّتْهَا بِهِ ، فَأَمَرَهُ بِأَكْلِهَا " .
Nafi’ (may Allah have mercy on him) says: I heard a man from Banu Salamah narrating this hadith in the presence of Sayyiduna Ibn ‘Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both): Sayyiduna Ka’b bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) had a slave girl who used to graze his goats at “Sal’.” One of those goats was about to die, so the slave girl took a sharp-edged stone and slaughtered the goat with it. The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) permitted them to eat it.
