Hadith 4536

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا الْوَلِيدُ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ ، أَن َّ يَحْيَى بْنَ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ حَدَّثَهُ ، أَنَّ أَبَا قِلَابَةَ حَدَّثَهُ ، عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ : " تَخْرُجُ نَارٌ مِنْ حَضْرَمَوْتَ ، أَوْ بِحَضْرَمَوْتَ ، فَتَسُوقُ النَّاسَ " ، قُلْنَا : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، مَا تَأْمُرُنَا ؟ قَالَ : " عَلَيْكُمْ بِالشَّامِ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that he heard the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "A fire will emerge from Hadramaut, which is a region of Syria, and it will drive the people forward." We asked: "O Messenger of Allah! What do you command us to do at that time?" He said: "Make the land of Syria obligatory upon yourselves (go there)."
