Hadith 4495

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ ، أَخْبَرَنَا أَيُّوبُ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَال : " كُلُّكُمْ رَاعٍ ، وَكُلُّكُمْ مَسْئُولٌ ، فَالْأَمِيرُ الَّذِي عَلَى النَّاسِ رَاعٍ ، وَهُوَ مَسْئُولٌ عَنْ رَعِيَّتِهِ ، وَالرَّجُلُ رَاعٍ عَلَى أَهْلِ بَيْتِهِ ، وَهُوَ مَسْئُولٌ ، وَالْمَرْأَةُ رَاعِيَةٌ عَلَى بَيْتِ زَوْجِهَا ، وَهِيَ مَسْئُولَةٌ ، وَالْعَبْدُ رَاعٍ عَلَى مَالِ سَيِّدِهِ ، وَهُوَ مَسْئُولٌ ، أَلَا فَكُلُّكُمْ رَاعٍ ، وَكُلُّكُمْ مَسْئُولٌ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Each of you is a shepherd, and each of you will be questioned about his flock. Thus, the ruler is responsible for his subjects, and he will be questioned about them. A man is responsible for his household, and he will be questioned about them. A woman is responsible for her husband's house, and she will be questioned about it. A servant is responsible for his master's wealth, and he will be questioned about it. In short, each of you is a shepherd, and each of you will be questioned about his flock."
