Hadith 4476

(حديث موقوف) حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَيُّوبُ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ : أَنَّ ابْنَ عُمَرَ كَانَ " يُصَلِّي عَلَى رَاحِلَتِهِ تَطَوُّعًا ، فَإِذَا أَرَادَ أَنْ يُوتر نَزَلَ ، فَأَوْتَرَ عَلَى الْأَرْضِ " .
Saeed bin Jubair (may Allah have mercy on him) says that Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) would offer the nawafil (supererogatory prayers) on his mount, but when he wanted to pray witr, he would dismount and pray witr on the ground.
