It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that a man asked the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him): "From where should a person enter into the state of Ihram?" The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "For the people of Madinah, it is Dhu'l-Hulayfah; for the people of Sham, it is Juhfah; for the people of Yemen, it is Yalamlam; and for the people of Najd, it is Qarn." Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) says that later people made Dhat 'Irq analogous to Qarn.
