Hadith 4449

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ ، أَخْبَرَنَا يُونُسُ ، عَنْ زِيَادِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ ، قَالَ : رَأَيْتُ رَجُلًا جَاءَ ابْنَ عُمَرَ ، فَسَأَلَهُ ، فَقَالَ : إِنَّهُ نَذَرَ أَنْ يَصُومَ كُلَّ يَوْمِ أَرْبِعَاءَ ، فَأَتَى ذَلِكَ عَلَيَّ يَوْمِ أَضْحًى أَوْ فِطْرٍ ؟ فَقَالَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ : أَمَرَ اللَّهُ بِوَفَاءِ النَّذْرِ ، " وَنَهَانَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ صَوْمِ يَوْمِ النَّحْرِ " .
Ziyad bin Jubair says that I saw a man come to Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) and ask this question: "I have made a vow that I will fast every Wednesday. Now, if Eid al-Adha or Eid al-Fitr falls on a Wednesday, what should I do?" Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) replied: "Allah has commanded the fulfillment of vows, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) has forbidden us from fasting on the Day of Sacrifice (the tenth of Dhul-Hijjah)."
