(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَعِيدٍ يَعْنِي مَوْلَى بَنِي هَاشِمٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عِكْرِمَةُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الْبَاهِلِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي ذُبَابٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ : أَنَّ عُثْمَانَ بْنَ عَفَّانَ صَلَّى بِمِنًى أَرْبَعَ رَكَعَاتٍ ، فَأَنْكَرَهُ النَّاسُ عَلَيْهِ ، فَقَالَ : يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ ، إِنِّي تَأَهَّلْتُ بِمَكَّةَ مُنْذُ قَدِمْتُ ، وَإِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ : " مَنْ تَأَهَّلَ فِي بَلَدٍ ، فَلْيُصَلِّ صَلَاةَ الْمُقِيمِ " .
Once during the days of Hajj, Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) led the people in Mina in four complete rak'ahs instead of shortening the prayer. The people were astonished at this. Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "O people! I have become a resident after coming to Makkah Mukarramah, and I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say that whoever becomes a resident in a city will pray the prayer of a resident."
