Hadith 441

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ بَكْرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا حُمَيْدٌ الطَّوِيلُ ، عَنْ شَيْخٍ مِنْ ثَقِيفٍ ذَكَرَهُ حُمَيْدٌ بِصَلَاحٍ ، ذَكَرَ أَنَّ عَمَّهُ أخْبَرَهُ : أَنَّهُ رَأَى عُثْمَانَ بْنَ عَفَّانَ جَلَسَ عَلَى الْبَابِ الثَّانِي مِنْ مَسْجِدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَدَعَا بِكَتِفٍ فَتَعَرَّقَهَا ، ثُمَّ قَامَ فَصَلَّى ، وَلَمْ يَتَوَضَّأْ ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : " جَلَسْتُ مَجْلِسَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، وَأَكَلْتُ مَا أَكَلَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، وَصَنَعْتُ مَا صَنَعَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " .
Once, a man saw Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) sitting near the second gate of the mosque. He ordered the meat of the shoulder and began to eat the meat off the bone. Then, standing just like that, he performed the prayer without renewing his ablution, and said: I sat as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sat, I ate what the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ate, and I did what the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did.
