(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَعِيدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ يَعْنِي الْمَخْرَمِيَّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا الْحَارِثُ بْنُ فُضَيْلٍ ، عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْحَكَمِ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ الْمِسْوَرِ بْنِ مَخْرَمَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي رَافِعٍ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي ابْنُ مَسْعُودٍ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " إِنَّهُ لَمْ يَكُنْ نَبِيٌّ قَطُّ إِلَّا وَلَهُ مِنْ أَصْحَابِهِ حَوَارِيٌّ وَأَصْحَابٌ يَتَّبِعُونَ أَثَرَهُ وَيَقْتَدُونَ بِهَدْيِهِ ، ثُمَّ يَأْتِي مِنْ بَعْدِ ذَلِكَ خَوَالِفُ أُمَرَاءُ ، يَقُولُونَ مَا لَا يَفْعَلُونَ ، وَيَفْعَلُونَ مَا لَا يُؤْمَرُونَ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Before me, whenever Allah sent a prophet to any community, He also appointed disciples and companions for him from among his community who would act upon the prophet’s way and follow his command. But after them, there would come some unworthy people who would say things they themselves did not do, and would do things they were not commanded to do."
