Hadith 440

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ ، حَدَّثَنَا حُرَيْثُ بْنُ السَّائِبِ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ الْحَسَنَ ، يَقُولُ : حَدَّثَنِي حُمْرَانُ ، عَنْ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ عَفَّانَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " كُلُّ شَيْءٍ سِوَى ظِلِّ بَيْتٍ ، وَجِلْفِ الْخُبْزِ ، وَثَوْبٍ يُوَارِي عَوْرَتَهُ ، وَالْمَاءِ ، فَمَا فَضَلَ عَنْ هَذَا فَلَيْسَ لِابْنِ آدَمَ فِيهِ حَقٌّ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "A person has no right to anything except the shade of a house, pieces of dry bread, clothing sufficient to cover the private parts, and water."
