Abdur Rahman bin Yazid says that once Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) set out for Hajj, Alqamah instructed me to stay with him, so I remained with him . . . . . Then he mentioned the complete hadith and said that when true dawn appeared, he (Ibn Mas'ud) said: "Say the Iqamah." I asked him, "Do you not usually pray Fajr at this time?" (Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud used to pray Fajr when it was quite bright), he replied: "The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) also did not pray this prayer at this time, but I saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) on this day, at this place, praying this prayer at this very time. These are two prayers whose times have been changed: one is the Maghrib prayer, which is performed after the people arrive at Muzdalifah, and the other is the Fajr prayer, which is performed at the time of true dawn. And I saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) doing it in this way."
