Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that Sayyiduna 'Umar al-Faruq (may Allah be pleased with him) had superiority over all people in four matters: ① Regarding the captives of the Battle of Badr, Sayyiduna 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) advised that they be killed, and Allah revealed this verse in agreement with him: « ﴿لَوْلَاكِتَابٌمِنَاللّٰهِسَبَقَلَمَسَّكُمْفِيمَاأَخَذْتُمْعَذَابٌعَظِيمٌ﴾ »[الأنفال : 68] ② Regarding the veil (hijab), Sayyiduna 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) advised the pure wives to observe seclusion. Sayyidah Zaynab (may Allah be pleased with her) said: "O son of Khattab! Do you command us while revelation descends in our houses?" Upon this, Allah revealed this verse: « ﴿وَإِذَاسَأَلْتُمُوهُنَّمَتَاعًافَاسْأَلُوهُنَّمِنْوَرَاءِحِجَابٍ﴾ »[الأحزاب : 53] "And when you ask them for anything, ask them from behind a curtain." ③ Regarding the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) supplication for him: "O Allah! Strengthen Islam through 'Umar." ④ Regarding Sayyiduna Abu Bakr as-Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him), in terms of opinion, he was the first to pledge allegiance to Sayyiduna Abu Bakr as-Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him).
