Wabisa Asadi, may Allah have mercy on him, says that once I was at my home in Kufa when there was a sound at the door: "Assalamu Alaikum! May I come in?" I said: "Wa Alaikum Assalam! Please come in." I saw that it was Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud, may Allah be pleased with him. I said: "O Abu Abdur Rahman! You have come to visit at this time?" It was midday (and it was very hot). He said: "Today has been a very long day for me. I was thinking about whom I should go and talk to (I thought of you, so I came to you)." Then he began to narrate to me the ahadith of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and I began to narrate to him. During this, he narrated this hadith: "I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: 'A time of tribulation is soon to come. In that time, the one who is asleep will be better than the one lying down, the one lying down will be better than the one sitting, the one sitting will be better than the one standing, the one standing will be better than the one walking, the one walking will be better than the one riding, and the one riding will be better than the one running. All those killed in that time will go to Hell.'"
I asked: "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! When will that be?" He said: "Those will be the days of Harj." I asked: "What is meant by the days of Harj?" He said: "When a person will not feel safe with his companion." I asked: "If I reach that time, what do you command me to do?" He said: "Restrain yourself and your hand, and stay inside your house." I asked: "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! Tell me, if someone enters my house, what should I do?" He said: "Go into your room." I asked: "If he enters my room, what should I do?" He said: "Go into your mosque and do this." Saying this, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) made a fist with his right hand and placed it on his thumb and said: "Keep saying, 'My Lord is Allah,' until death comes to you upon this faith and belief."
