(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، عَنْ إِسْرَائِيلَ ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مَيْمُونٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِمِنًى وَهُوَ مُسْنِدٌ ظَهْرَهُ إِلَى قُبَّةٍ حَمْرَاءَ ، قَالَ : " أَلَمْ تَرْضَوْا أَنْ تَكُونُوا رُبُعَ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ ؟ " قُلْنَا : بَلَى ، قَالَ : " أَلَمْ تَرْضَوْا أَنْ تَكُونُوا ثُلُثَ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ ؟ " قَالُوا : بَلَى ، قَالَ : " وَاللَّهِ إِنِّي لَأَرْجُو أَنْ تَكُونُوا نِصْفَ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ ، وَسَأُحَدِّثُكُمْ عَنْ ذَلِكَ ، عَنْ قِلَّةِ الْمُسْلِمِينَ فِي النَّاسِ يَوْمَئِذٍ ، مَا هُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ فِي النَّاسِ إِلَّا كَالشَّعْرَةِ الْبَيْضَاءِ فِي الثَّوْرِ الْأَسْوَدِ ، أَوْ كَالشَّعْرَةِ السَّوْدَاءِ فِي الثَّوْرِ الْأَبْيَضِ ، وَلَنْ يَدْخُلَ الْجَنَّةَ إِلَّا نَفْسٌ مُسْلِمَةٌ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Mas’ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that once, in the plain of Mina, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) related this hadith to us while he was reclining against a red tent. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Are you pleased and satisfied that you will be one fourth of the people of Paradise?” We replied: Yes! Then he asked: “Are you pleased to be one third?” We again replied in the affirmative. He said: “By Him in Whose hand is my soul, I hope that you will be half of the people of Paradise. And I will tell you why the number of Muslims will be few on that day: in fact, on that day, Muslims among the people will be like a white hair on the skin of a black ox, or like a black hair on the skin of a red ox. And only that person will enter Paradise who is a Muslim.”
