It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that once we were sitting with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in a tent, about forty people in total. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Are you pleased and satisfied that you will be one fourth of the people of Paradise?" We replied: Yes! Then he asked: "Are you pleased to be one third?" We again replied in the affirmative. He said: "By Him in Whose hand is the soul of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), I hope that you will be half of the people of Paradise, because only that person will enter Paradise who is a Muslim, and your proportion among those who commit shirk is like a white hair on the skin of a black ox, or a black hair on the skin of a red ox."
