Hadith 4130

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، عَنْ عَبِيدَةَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ : " خَيْرُ النَّاسِ قَرْنِي ، ثُمَّ الَّذِينَ يَلُونَهُمْ ، ثُمَّ الَّذِينَ يَلُونَهُمْ ثَلَاثًا أَوْ أَرْبَعًا ثُمَّ يَجِيءُ قَوْمٌ تَسْبِقُ شَهَادَةُ أَحَدِهِمْ يَمِينَهُ ، وَيَمِينُهُ شَهَادَتَهُ " ، قَالَ : وَكَانَ أَصْحَابُنَا يَضْرِبُونَا وَنَحْنُ صِبْيَانٌ عَلَى الشَّهَادَةِ وَالْعَهْدِ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The best of people are those of my generation, then those who come after them, then those who come after them, then those who come after them. After that, there will come a people whose testimony will precede their oath, and whose oath will precede their testimony."
