Hadith 4108

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، وَأَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ ، عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِيَّاكُمْ وَالْكَذِبَ ، فَإِنَّ الْكَذِبَ يَهْدِي إِلَى الْفُجُورِ ، وَالْفُجُورَ يَهْدِي إِلَى النَّارِ ، وَإِنَّ الرَّجُلَ لَيَكْذِبُ ، حَتَّى يُكْتَبَ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ كَذَّابًا " ، وَقَالَ : قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " عَلَيْكُمْ بِالصِّدْقِ ، فَإِنَّ الصِّدْقَ يَهْدِي إِلَى الْبِرِّ ، وَإِنَّ الْبِرَّ يَهْدِي إِلَى الْجَنَّةِ ، وَإِنَّهُ يَعْنِي الرَّجُلَ لَيَصْدُقُ وَيَتَحَرَّى الصِّدْقَ ، حَتَّى يُكْتَبَ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ صِدِّيقًا " . قَالَ أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ : وَمَا يَزَالُ الرَّجُلُ يَصْدُقُ ، وَيَتَحَرَّى الصِّدْقَ .
Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Guard yourselves against lying, for lying leads to sin and sin leads to the Fire. A person continues to lie and pursues falsehood until he is written with Allah as a «كذاب». And adhere to truthfulness, for truthfulness leads to righteousness and righteousness leads to Paradise. A person continues to speak the truth until he is written with Allah as a «صديق»."
