Ata bin Farukh says that once Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) bought a piece of land from a man, but when there was a delay on his part, he met him and said to him, "Why do you not take possession of your money?" He said, "You have deceived me; whoever I meet blames me." He (Uthman) said, "Is it only for this reason that you are hesitating?" He replied in the affirmative. He (Uthman) said, "Then choose between your land and your money (if you want to take your land back, then take it, and if you want to take the money, then take it), because the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'Allah Almighty will surely admit to Paradise the person who is gentle, whether he is a buyer or a seller, a payer or a demander.'"
