Abu Anas (may Allah have mercy on him) says that once Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) washed each part of his body three times while performing ablution. At that time, some of the noble companions (may Allah be pleased with them) were also present with him. Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) asked them, "Have you not seen the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) performing ablution in this manner?" They replied, "Yes! We have seen him do it in this way."
