Hadith 3950

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَبَا إِسْحَاق ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَبَا الْأَحْوَصِ يُحَدِّثُ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، أَنَّهُ كَانَ يَدْعُو بِهَذَا الدُّعَاءِ : " اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ الْهُدَى ، وَالتُّقَى ، وَالْعَفَافَ ، وَالْغِنَى " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to supplicate: «اللّٰهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ الْهُدَى وَالتُّقَى وَالْعَفَافَ وَالْغِنَى» "O Allah! I ask You for guidance, piety, chastity, and self-sufficiency (freedom from need before the creation)."
