Hadith 3904

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، قَالَ : أَبُو إِسْحَاقَ أَخْبَرَنَا ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَبَا الْأَحْوَصِ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، أَنَّهُ كَانَ يَقُولُ : " اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ التُّقَى ، وَالْهُدَى ، وَالْعَفَافَ ، وَالْغِنَى " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to supplicate: «اللّٰهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ التُّقَى وَالْهُدَى وَالْعَفَافَ وَالْغِنَى» "O Allah! I ask You for guidance, piety, chastity, and self-sufficiency (freedom from need before the creation)."
