(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا زَيْدُ بْنُ حُبَابٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي حُسَيْنٌ ، حَدَّثَنِي عَاصِمُ بْنُ بَهْدَلَةَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ شَقِيقَ بْنَ سَلَمَةَ ، يَقُولُ : سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ مَسْعُودٍ ، يَقُولُ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " رَأَيْتُ جِبْرِيلَ عَلَى سِدْرَةِ الْمُنْتَهَى ، وَلَهُ سِتُّ مِائَةِ جَنَاحٍ " ، قَالَ : سَأَلْتُ عَاصِمًا عَنِ الْأَجْنِحَةِ ؟ فَأَبَى أَنْ يُخْبِرَنِي ، قَالَ : فَأَخْبَرَنِي بَعْضُ أَصْحَابِهِ أَنَّ الْجَنَاحَ مَا بَيْنَ الْمَشْرِقِ وَالْمَغْرِبِ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "At the place of Sidrat al-Muntaha, I saw Jibreel in his original form; he had six hundred wings." When the narrator asked his teacher 'Asim for clarification, he refused to explain. Another student of his said that one wing covers the distance between the east and the west.
