Hadith 385

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مَيْمُونٍ ، عَنْ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : " كَانَ أَهْلُ الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ لَا يُفِيضُونَ مِنْ جَمْعٍ ، حَتَّى يَقُولُوا : أَشْرِقْ ثَبِيرُ كَيْمَا نُغِيرُ ، فَلَمَّا جَاءَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ خَالَفَهُمْ ، فَكَانَ يَدْفَعُ مِنْ جَمْعٍ مِقْدَارَ صَلَاةِ الْمُسْفِرِينَ بِصَلَاةِ الْغَدَاةِ ، قَبْلَ طُلُوعِ الشَّمْسِ " .
Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said that the polytheists would not return before sunrise and used to say, "Let Mount Thabir become illuminated so that we may attack." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not adopt their way and departed from Muzdalifah towards Mina before sunrise, while the Fajr prayer could be offered according to the amount of time taken by those who pray it in brightness.
