(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، ، قال عبد الله بنُ أَحمد : وَسَمِعْتُهُ أَنَا مِنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ فُضَيْلٍ ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ السَّائِبِ ، عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَقُولُ : " اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ ، مِنْ هَمْزِهِ ، وَنَفْثِهِ ، وَنَفْخِهِ " ، فَهَمْزُهُ : الْمُوتَةُ ، وَنَفْثُهُ : الشِّعْرُ ، وَنَفْخُهُ : الْكِبْرُ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to seek refuge with Allah from the squeezing of Satan, his spitting, and his blowing. The narrator says that by "squeezing" is meant death, by "spitting" is meant poetry, and by "blowing" is meant arrogance.
