It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that once a man came and asked in the presence of the Messenger of Allah, "When will Laylat al-Qadr be?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Which of you remembers that night which was red and white?" I said, "May my parents be sacrificed for you, I remember. At that time, I had some dates in my hand and I was secretly eating sahur with them at the back of my saddle, and the moon was out at that time."
