Hadith 3584

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) entered Masjid al-Haram, and at that time there were three hundred and sixty idols placed around the Ka'bah. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would poke them with the stick he had in his hand and would recite this verse: «﴿جَاءَ الْحَقُّ وَمَا يُبْدِئُ الْبَاطِلُ وَمَا يُعِيدُ﴾ [سبأ : 49]» "Truth has come, and falsehood can neither create anything nor bring anything back," and also: «﴿جَاءَ الْحَقُّ وَزَهَقَ الْبَاطِلُ إِنَّ الْبَاطِلَ كَانَ زَهُوقًا﴾ [الإسراء : 81]» "Truth has come, and falsehood has vanished; surely falsehood is ever bound to vanish."
