Hadith 3583

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ ابْنِ أَبِي نَجِيحٍ ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي مَعْمَرٍ ، عَنْ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ : انْشَقَّ الْقَمَرُ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ شِقَّتَيْنِ ، حَتَّى نَظَرُوا إِلَيْهِ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " اشْهَدُوا " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that during the blessed era of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), the moon was split into two parts once, and all the people saw it. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Bear witness."
