It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever takes an oath in a matter and thereby unlawfully acquires the wealth of a Muslim, will meet Allah while He is angry with him." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) recited this verse of the Noble Qur'an before us in support of this: « ﴿إِنَّالَّذِينَيَشْتَرُونَبِعَهْدِاللّٰهِوَأَيْمَانِهِمْثَمَنًاقَلِيلًاأُولَئِكَلَاخَلَاقَلَهُمْفِيالْآخِرَةِوَلَايُكَلِّمُهُمُاللّٰهُ﴾ [آل عمران : 77]» "Indeed, those who exchange Allah’s covenant and their oaths for a small price will have no share in the Hereafter, and Allah will not speak to them."
