Hadith 3518

Abu Hazir, may Allah have mercy on him, says that once a person asked Sayyiduna Ibn Umar, may Allah be pleased with them both, about the jar in which nabidh is made. He replied that Allah and His Messenger have forbidden it. That man then went to Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with them both, and also mentioned to him the answer of Sayyiduna Ibn Umar, may Allah be pleased with them both. Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with them both, said that he has spoken the truth. The man asked Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with them both, from what kind of jar did the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, forbid its use? He replied: Every jar that is made from baked clay.
