ومن مسند بني هاشمFrom the Musnad of Banu Hashim
مُسْنَدُ عَبْدِ اللّٰهِ بْنِ الْعَبَّاسِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ رَضِيَ اللّٰهُ عَنْهُمَاMusnad of Abdullah ibn al-Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with them)
Hadith 3510

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي حَفْصَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ شِهَابٍ ، عَنْ أَبِى سِنَانٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ أَنَّ الْأَقْرَعَ بْنَ حَابِسٍ سَأَلَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْحَجُّ كُلَّ عَامٍ ؟ فَقَالَ : " لَا ، بَلْ حَجَّةٌ ، فَمَنْ حَجَّ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ ، فَهُوَ تَطَوُّعٌ ، وَلَوْ قُلْتُ نَعَمْ . لَوَجَبَتْ ، وَلَوْ وَجَبَتْ لَمْ تَسْمَعُوا وَلَمْ تُطِيعُوا " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that (once the Prophet ﷺ was delivering a sermon to us and said: "O people! Hajj has been made obligatory upon you." Upon hearing this,) Aqra’ bin Habis stood up and said: "O Messenger of Allah ﷺ! Is Hajj obligatory every year?" The Prophet ﷺ said: "If I had said yes, it would have become obligatory upon you every year, but if that had happened, you would not have been able to do it. Hajj is obligatory only once in a lifetime; whatever is more than that is voluntary Hajj."
