It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that once I came to my maternal aunt, Umm al-Mu'mineen Sayyidah Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her), and spent the night at her place. I found out that, according to the division of nights, it was the turn of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to spend the night with her that night . . . . . Then the narrator mentioned the complete hadith and at the end said: When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) felt that the time for Fajr was near, he paused a little and, after it became light, he prayed nine rak‘ahs and intended witr in them, and he would say salam after every two rak‘ahs. When it became bright, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) prayed two rak‘ahs and then lay down and slept until I heard the sound of his snoring. After a little while, Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) came and informed about the prayer. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came out and led the prayer in the same manner.
