ومن مسند بني هاشمFrom the Musnad of Banu Hashim
مُسْنَدُ عَبْدِ اللّٰهِ بْنِ الْعَبَّاسِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ رَضِيَ اللّٰهُ عَنْهُمَاMusnad of Abdullah ibn al-Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with them)
Hadith 3466

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ وَابْنُ بَكْرٍ ، قَالَا : أَنْبَأَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ ، قَالَ : قُلْتُ : لِعَطَاءٍ أَيُّ حِينٍ أَحَبُّ إِلَيْكَ أَنْ أُصَلِّيَ الْعِشَاءَ إِمَامًا أَوْ خِلْوًا ؟ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ ، يَقُولُ : أَعْتَمَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَيْلَةً بِالْعِشَاءِ ، حَتَّى رَقَدَ النَّاسُ وَاسْتَيْقَظُوا ، وَرَقَدُوا وَاسْتَيْقَظُوا ، فَقَامَ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، فَقَالَ : الصَّلَاةَ . قَالَ عَطَاءٌ : قَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ فَخَرَجَ نَبِيُّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، كَأَنِّي أَنْظُرُ إِلَيْهِ الْآنَ ، يَقْطُرُ رَأْسُهُ مَاءً ، وَاضِعٌ يَدَهُ عَلَى شَقِّ رَأْسِهِ ، فَقَالَ : " لَوْلَا أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي ، لَأَمَرْتُهُمْ أَنْ يُصَلُّوهَا كَذَلِكَ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) once delayed the ‘Isha prayer so much that the people slept and woke up twice. Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) came and said: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! The prayer. Upon this, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came out. That scene is still before my eyes: drops of water were dripping from the head of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and he placed his hand on his head and said, “If I did not fear hardship for my Ummah, I would have commanded them to perform the ‘Isha prayer at this time.”
