It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) set out towards Makkah in the year of the conquest of Makkah during Ramadan, he was fasting. But when he reached the place of Ghadeer, the people became extremely thirsty because it was midday. The people began to stretch their necks and felt an intense desire for water. So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) called for a bowl of water, placed it on his hand so that everyone could see, and drank from it, and the people also drank water.
