ومن مسند بني هاشمFrom the Musnad of Banu Hashim
مُسْنَدُ عَبْدِ اللّٰهِ بْنِ الْعَبَّاسِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ رَضِيَ اللّٰهُ عَنْهُمَاMusnad of Abdullah ibn al-Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with them)
Hadith 3393

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ ، أَنْبَأَنَا يُونُسُ ، عَنِ الْحَكَمِ بْنِ الْأَعْرَجِ ، قَالَ : سَأَلْتُ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ عَنْ يَوْمِ عَاشُورَاءَ ، فَقَالَ : " إِذَا رَأَيْتَ هِلَالَ الْمُحَرَّمِ فَاعْدُدْ ، فَإِذَا أَصْبَحْتَ مِنْ تَاسِعَةٍ ، فَأَصْبِحْ صَائِمًا " . قَالَ يُونُسُ : فَأُنْبِئْتُ عَنِ الْحَكَمِ أَنَّهُ قَالَ : فَقُلْتُ : أَكَذَاكَ صَامَ مُحَمَّدٌ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ؟ قَالَ : " نَعَمْ " .
Hakam bin A'raj says that once I was present in the service of Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them). I asked him to tell me something about the Day of Ashura. He said: When you see the crescent of Muharram, keep counting its dates. When the morning of the ninth day comes, observe the fast. I asked: Did the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) fast in this manner? He replied: Yes.
