It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) led the prayer of fear in a region of Banu Sulaym, which was called Dhi Qarad. The people formed two rows behind the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): one row stood facing the enemy, and one row stood behind the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) for prayer. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) led this group in one rak'ah, then these people walked backwards to the place of those who were standing facing the enemy, and those people came and stood behind the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) then led them in the second rak'ah, and then said the salam. In this way, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performed two rak'ahs, and each group performed one rak'ah.
