Hadith 3292

Ibn Abi Mulaika (may Allah have mercy on him) says that Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) wrote to me in a letter that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If things were given to people merely on the basis of their claims, many people would make false claims regarding life and wealth. However, the oath is upon the one against whom the claim is made."
