Dajeen, whose kunyah was Abu al-Ghasan, says that once I came to Madinah Munawwarah, where I met Aslam, the freed slave of Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him). I requested him to narrate a hadith from Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him). He excused himself and said that he feared making an addition or omission. When we used to ask Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) to narrate a hadith from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), he would give the same reply, saying that he feared making an addition or omission. And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever attributes a false statement to me, let him take his place in Hell."
