Hadith 3257

Abu Hazir, may Allah have mercy on him, says that once a man asked Sayyiduna Ibn Umar, may Allah be pleased with them both, about the jug in which nabidh is made. He replied that Allah and His Messenger have forbidden it. That man then went to Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with them both, and also mentioned the answer of Sayyiduna Ibn Umar, may Allah be pleased with them both. Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with them both, said that he has spoken the truth. The man asked Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with them both, from what kind of jug did the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, prohibit its use? He replied: Every jug that is made from baked clay.
